Exam Stratergies

The unit has the following4 learning outcomes:


  1. Understand the factors that need to be considered during the planning of a media product
  2. Be able to interpret client requirements and target audience considerations
  3. Be able to to plan the pre-productionof media product
  4. Be able to create and evaluate pre-production documents for a new media product 
It is worth 12.5% of your grade

Your grade will come back as either Unclassified, Near Pass, Pass, Merit or distinction. 

Then it is converted into points.

You are sitting the exam on Friday 24th May at 9AM

It is 2 hours long

Marked out of 80

  • Starting at 9AM you should spend 15 mins reading through the paper fully mad making notes next to questions (9:00-9:15)
  • At  9:15 you should then spend just over a minute per mark answering the question (9:15-10:45)
  • At 10:45 you should then spend the final 15 mins reading through your answers and adding in anything you may have missed- Particularly terminology and examples (10:45-11:00)
  • Then you are Done!
You can resit the exam twice- This will be in year 13

If you receive unclassified you receive no marks towards your final grade and must resit


Near pass- 19% (15 marks)

Pass- 34% (27 Marks)

Merit-'49% (39 marks)

Distinction- 69% (55 marks)


8 Marks- 3X PEE
12 Marks- 4X PEE
20 Marks- 7XPEE

Remember- If its a debate question you must show both sides of the argument
